Dear Fran, and Anderson Family, It was an honor to know Dick Anderson. The genuine outgoing nature, warmth and kindness of Dick has and will continue to resonate with me. Dick was and Fran is a shining example of down to earth goodness that leaves one smiling at every encounter. My heart goes out to Fran and the Anderson family. Dick was a great man in so many ways. As a non-Toledo-an, I am glad I had the opportunity to know Dick albeit briefly and will be forever touched by his kindness and the example he set for us as a community leader. Most Sincerely, Suzanne Hargrove

My love and deepest appreciation to all of you my neighbors, Anderson’s pool playmates, child/adult friends, and St Joe’s parishioners. Dick’s and your love for family and our Toledo community has been an inspiration and source of pride. At the Peristyle for Carmina Burana, I walked by Ginny Belt, Ruth Oatis and Margaret Anderson’s season tickets seats reveled in their memory. I am so sorry to be out of town and not there give hugs, share stories and mass in his and your honor. May our laughter tears and love roll for weeks and months to come. Thank you!!

Dr. Robert Fritz left a message on March 5, 2020:
Some men are ordinary...some men are extra-ordinary...some men are above that...Dick Anderson was one of those men in my life. He was my Boy Scout Master...he taught me many things about life...how important work is...how important it is to be a good person...and simple things like how to properly tie a square knot! He was my neighbor along with his mom and dad and brothers. I am forever grateful for all the thing the Anderson Family shared with a little person like me. Rest In Peace Dick. I love you. Franny....please hang in there!!
Dick Reynolds left a message on March 5, 2020:
Dear Fran, Dan and the entire Anderson Family, I knew Dick through the Boy Scouts of America and our local council, besides being on the Toledo Museum of Art Board with him. His service to our community and youth was above outstanding. I very much appreciated the time Dick would share with me walking around Pioneer Scout Reservation visiting with Troops and Scouts to learn what we could be doing better to improve their experiences and memories. Listening to him talk about the whole process of starting the camp was always fascinating and truly a story of our Scouting history in Northwest Ohio. He will be truly missed by me and Scouting as his contributions were many as they were throughout our communities and organizations. My sincere condolences to the entire family and wishing you all the BEST in your celebrations of his life. Dick Reynolds Eagle Scout 1962

What a wonderful life Dick had! Fran, you two were always reaching out to others. I'm sure you will have dark moments. But stick to those great memories and enjoy the support of your kids and grandkids. Thank you for being so supportive of me and the Joan of Arc project! It couldn't have been done without you. I have vivid memories of that outdoor Mass around the Anderson pond! I'm not able to join you for the funeral but know I am with you and the family in prayer. I was so happy that you and Dick came to my birthday party that Tom and Mary Ann Oess had last May. Fr. Dick Wurzel

Fr. Don Vettese, SJ left a message on March 4, 2020:
A strong and noble ship has gone down. Dick Anderson has died, and part of the soul of Toledo has been lost. My condolences to his family, friends and city. Dick lived his faith by doing, and also by not caving into many of the dark influences that often damage families and communities. He was a perfect model of a Catholic man who honored his church, community and his family by the way he lived. Dick navigated storms, negative currents and strong winds with great strength and courage. He was built to last and I believe He is with his God now, as he deserves to be. Fr. Don Vettese, SJ

John and myself would like to express our sorrow of the death of a great man. We have both worked for Andersons for many years( John still does). He was always a people person. He took the time to talk to you like he’s know you for years. I loved the stories he told about the diary farm , his childhood, and the treehouse. So happy that he passed away with loved ones around him. May God be with the family through this trying time. He’s now free
