I met Dick & Colleen as a young boy learning to ski at Mt. Mancelona; where the regulars were all friends - many early/fond memories. I joined the Ski Patrol in part because of Dick & Colleen; and have been an active member for 30 years now (Boyne Mountain - APD & OEC instructor). I always enjoyed seeing Dick & Coleen annually at our refreshers. The news is sad, but I certainly celebrate having them in my life. Condolences to Colleen & family. Rest in Peace Brother - Thank you for the role model influence , memories and friendship.

Mary Burd left a message on November 26, 2019:
Dick was a great friend that I have known for more than 35 years. It was a joy to see his smiling face and to call him my friend. I will look back at all the fun times we had and remember the good times both during the ski season and in the summer program. We trained together and instructed together, we even did scuba diving in his pool. I will never forget driving down I75 from up north, after a training class, being passed by Dick and Collen who were both wearing motorcycle helmets in their car (we had used them in training to have students practice helmet removal) they looked at us and waved, we laughed. Just after they passed us, a state trooper passed both our cars, the cop did a big double take when he passed Dick and Collen. I am sure he was wondering why they had helmets on in a car but never stopped them to ask. LOL Also we took a ski trip with Dick and Collen out west, we took our radios with us Cowabunga 1 to Cowabunga 2. We stashed our lunch on the hill in the morning in a great spot that had a picnic table and a great view, only to find out that the local ski patrol used that spot for their lunch time. Everyone that knew Dick will miss him but will remember him with a smile. All my love to all the Knight family.

Dick was one of the best men I have known, he was an incredible family man and dad and grandfather, he was a devoted volunteer with the National Ski Patrol. He loved people both helping and socializing. He had a great sense of humor and was always smiling and enjoying life. I will miss him greatly but will remember him always! His family will miss him but will be fine because of him, they will continue to support each other as he would have done. Knight family I love you all❤️❤️
