Family and friends of Betty: With sincere condolences and late tribute to Betty, I extend my belated message to each of the family and friends who would be missing Betty since her departure from her earthly life to transition to her next. May there still be joy in each of your hearts as your memories relive your time with Betty. Sending thoughts and prayers as you make sense of the life cycle and life without Betty. Kind regards, Denise L. Clair, former Oak Harbor resident; currently residing in Melbourne Australia.

Kelly Snyder left a message on April 24, 2019:
I was blessed to have Mrs. Ling for a teacher 2 years in a row when I was a student at St. Joe's many years ago. She was very calm and encouraging. I thoroughly enjoyed the many creative activities she did to extend the lessons. Years later, when I became a teacher myself, I had the opportunity to sub at RC Waters. I was ecstatic when I discovered she was teaching there and and remember knocking at her door to get a chance to reintroduce myself. A couple years later, I found myself teaching 4th grade along with her and Betty Dietzel. It was such an honor to be colleagues with my favorite elementary teacher. When I shared her obituary on Facebook, past students and teachers commented. Here are some of them: She was a wonderful lady❤️❤️❤️ I had Mrs. Ling for 2 years in a row. She was an awesome teacher! She was such a calm and nurturing soul! Instantly a confidant/friend that made you feel smart and important. ❤️? She was a wonderful teacher! Someone special! So sad! She was a good supportive friend and great teacher. Thanks for sharing your mom with so many other children. She truly touched many lives and we're better because of it. Kelly (Ross) Snyder

To the Ling family: As a younger cousin of Betty Jean's (I am the youngest daughter of Mary and Floyd Beekman), I sometimes baby-sat for the three oldest Ling girls. One such time, I went into the kitchen and Betty Jean was at the kitchen baking a wonderful dessert......but at the same time, listening to a Spanish cassette and repeating the Spanish phrases aloud as she was mixing the baking ingredients. Being a wonderful mom, baking a delicious dessert, and learning a foreign language all at the same time was just one small accomplishment for Betty Jean. I know she left an indelible mark for many, including her family, her past students, and her cousin! Vicky (Beekman) Chapman-Rowe

Dear Family, Sometimes a teacher's work is so precious and so good that the lessons taught are never forgotten. Betty was such a teacher. Sometimes a woman's life holds so much meaning that she resonates beyond the range of her own voice. Betty was such a woman. We pray that you find your peace in knowing that she will continue to influence many, and many are grateful for her life. With deepest respect.

What an warm and talented woman. I enjoyed her company and admired her many talents. She will be missed. Her courage and determination in her struggle with cancer showed her strength. Rest in peace, Betty. You will be well cherished in the wonderful memories you shared with your family.
