Grandma Doris was a very loved and compassionate soul. I will always remember her smile and how she loved children. Her love and passion for children helped inspire me to go into teaching. Grandma Doris was a close fiend with my mother and she adopted my two sons when we would visit at work. She was a loved Grandmother to them and a friend to me. Thank you Grandma Doris for the love and the memories. We honor your memory every time we use the China .. With much love Georgette Cardone

Doris was a second Mom to my siblings and I from the time we moved to Toledo about 55 years ago - they lived right behind us! I remember her & Mom chatting over the back fence shortly after we moved in - they were best friends until my Mom passed. She endured a lot in her life, and she brought great joy to those dear to her. I will love her forever and am comforted knowing Doris, Owen, Dawn and my Mom & Dad are whooping it up in heaven. Joan (Vehslage) Conner
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

I first met Doris at Whiteford when I student taught there in spring of 1978. Then I started teaching there in 1986-1988 and then 1990 until i retired in 2012. I will never forget when Doris came to my door in March of 1995 and very calmly said that my mother tripped and fell on the sidewalk on Summit St. and I needed to go to Flower Hospital to be with her. Luckily Mom just had scrapes and bruises. In later years, we all would help Doris get inside Cafe Marie's for our monthly retirement luncheons. She was a wonderful listener and loved children and adults so much! We'll miss you,"Mama Hen!"

My dear sweet Doris! She always made any day a bit brighter. So many students, and staff, for so many years, were made to feel special at Whiteford Elementary School by her kindness. I am sure there are hundreds of students who have a special memory of their "Momma Hen." God blessed all of us with a special person! An angel on earth and now an angel in Heaven!
