Ann E. Smith, age 79, of North Ridgeville, Ohio – and formerly of Maumee, Ohio – passed away peacefully at Kingston Rehabilitation of Perrysburg, Ohio on May 24th 2019.
She was born October 16, 1939 in Napoleon, Ohio to Raymond and Elizabeth (Kelchner) Rickly. She graduated from Liberty Center high school and attended Bowling Green State University, where she met Jerry Smith. They were married on August 19, 1961. Ann worked for many years as the Librarian for Maumee City Schools. She was a member of Bay Village Presbyterian Church since 1987, was active in the choir, and volunteered at Bethany Presbyterian food ministry preparing meals. She enjoyed playing bridge and was active in many bridge clubs over the years. Ann was a wonderful cook and loved hosting family dinners. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, golfing, playing dominos with her grandchildren, and traveling with friends.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry D. Smith of North Ridgeville, OH; sister, Mary Jane (James) Rupp of Archbold, OH; daughter, Lori (Daniel) Skees of Curtice, OH; son, Douglas (Laura) Smith of Delaware, OH; grandchildren, Aaron Skees, Bethany Skees, Jordan Smith, Elijah Smith, and Caleb Smith. Her brother, John Rickly, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Broadway, Maumee, Ohio 43537 on Thursday, May 30 from 1:00-3:00. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Bay Village Presbyterian Church 25415 Lake Road, Bay Village, Ohio 44140. A private burial will be held for family.
