Zelma Castor

September 20, 1924 — March 31, 2010

Zelma Louise Castor, age 85, west home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 31, 2010. Zelma was born in Wauseon, Ohio and was one of ten children born to Harry and Caroline Goldsmith. Zelma married Theron Castor October, 1942. They moved to Toledo in 1961. Zelma work for Toledo Day Nursery, the new Fountain Terrace Restaurant, Sunning Dale Country Club and Gladieux Catering. In 1964, Zelma and her son, Tom, started Castors Catering and Cake Supplies, and later Casters Banquet Hall & Chapel. She ran a successful business with her family until retiring and selling them in 2004. Zelma was famous for her special cheese cakes she sold and also baked for the former Willow Restaurant. After retiring, she enjoyed winters in Florida with her children, family get-togethers, watching Gaither programs on t.v. and reading her bible. She was a great prayer warrior, loved the Lord and was an active member of Trinity Nazarene Church until becoming homebound. She loved music, cooking, baking and birds. She leaves many special memories for her family; sons, Gary Denise and Tom Sunny; daughter, Peggy Ed Spratt; nine grandchildren, Melissa, Brian, Tammy, Michelle, Nicole, Timothy, Jodie, Julie and Tricia; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 pm and on Saturday from 10-11 am at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. From the Castor and Spratt family: There are not enough thank yous for the love and care from all the special people at Hospice.
