Zell E. Whetstone

April 6, 1928 — April 18, 2013

This world lost a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and sister when Zell Whetstone returned home to her Father after a brief illness. Zell passed peacefully into her heavenly home surrounded by her loving children, their spouses, and several grandchildren on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. She was born April 6, 1928 in Paintsville, KY, to Harry and Chloe Rice and grew up in Ohio and Michigan. She met the love of her life, Ralph, in 1940 in Homer, Michigan. Zell worked for Kelloggs in Battle Creek, MI before she married Ralph on January 25, 1951. After her marriage to Ralph, she enjoyed being a homemaker and mother, and her life revolved around her family. She was active in Mayfair School PTA and Mothers Club as her children grew. She then became the number one supporter of her childrens and grandchildrens many varied activities. Zell and Ralphs loving and devoted relationship of 72 years was an inspiration and model for all who knew them. Over the years they enjoyed bowling in different leagues, cheering for University of Michigan sports, and traveling, especially annual family trips to Sunset Beach, NC. She will always be remembered for her kindness, quick wit, and unconditional love. Zell is the widow of Ralph Whetstone, who died September 11, 2012.
