Zelda L. Lydy

Zelda L. Lydy, 90, passed away on January 25, 2013 at the Toledo Hospital. Zelda was born November 27, 1922 in Toledo to Doran and Thelma (Johnson) Young. She was a graduate of Scott High School and worked as a secretary for Toledo Scale and Champion Spark Plug. After the death of her husband, Robert A. Lydy in 1966, she began working at the University of Toledo as secretary to the Vice-President and the Treasurer until retiring in the late 1980s. Zelda enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, and getting together her with her sorority friends monthly for lunch. She was also a wonderful cook and baker. Zelda is survived by her children, Marilyn K. (Gary) Walker and Robert D. (Cathi) Lydy; grandchildren, Keith (Katy) Walker, Kristen (Matt) Crandall, Erin (Tom) Boggs, and Jenelle Lydy (Mark Epley); 12 great-grandchildren; and beloved cat, Missy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and parents. Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter, 32 Hillwyck Dr. Toledo, OH 43615.
