Wing Sin Wai, age 101, died on Thursday, March 3, 2022. Wing Sin was born on May 12, 1920, and grew up in Guangzhou, China. She married Ying Cheung Wai who passed away in 1986. She and Ying Cheung moved to Hong Kong as a result from the combination of Second Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War. Later, she and her husband immigrated to United States in 1979 and lived between Michigan and Ohio. Subsequently, both resided at Toledo, Ohio.
Wing Sin taught Chinese Studies between 1957-1973 from Burdette College in Hong Kong. Upon retirement, Wing Sin became a homemaker and spent most of her time helping to raise her grandchildren. Wing Sin always loved and enjoyed celebrations and gathering with her family while playing mahjong.
Wing Sin is survived by one brother (in Guangzhou, China) and three children, Lily Sui Mui (Kenny) Lui, David Chun Dok (Connie) Wai, Anna Sui Lan (Kar) Chan, Son in law, Tin Ho Wong, and grandchildren: Kenny Jr (Ya-Ling) Lui, Annie Wai, Jenni (Randy) Wai, Joyce (Jeff) Rhodes, Jimmy Lui, Jack Chan, Patrick Wong. and great grandchildren: Everett Lui, Meleisha Lui, Raydn Liu, Ella Rhodes, Kian Liu, & Christopher Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Ying Cheung Wai, her daughter Wendy Siu N. Wong and 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623. A burial will take place at 1:30 pm at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe Street, Sylvania, OH 436560.
