Wilson F. Roecker

Wilson F. Roecker, 92, of Sandusky, formerly of Genoa and Northwood, Ohio, died Tuesday evening, December 8, 2015, at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio. Wilson was born February 27, 1923, in Allen Township in Ottawa County, Ohio, to John and Ida (Westerhaus) Roecker. On November 13, 1943, in California, he married Genevieve E. Hosley and she preceded him in death November 5, 2011. Wilson retired in 1985 from the Geo. F. Ackerman Company after 20 years of service. He had also worked for the former Pure Oil Co. of Toledo, Ohio. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Northwood since 1970. He was a former General Superintendent of the Sunday School at First St. John Lutheran Church in Toledo for many years. Wilson was also a member of the Northwood Athletic Boosters, had served on the Northwood Board of Education and was a member and past president of Genoa Future Farmers of America during his high school years. During WWII, Wilson served six years in the U.S. Navy-two of those years at the Bikini Bomb Test Site and three years with the LST. Wilsons favorite pastimes included playing cards and gardening. Wilson is survived by his son, John (Bonnie) Roecker, daughters, Sandra (John) Harmon, Sheree (James) Lambert and Georgiann McClure; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Roecker and Virgil (Betty) Roecker. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Milton Roecker, and sisters, Velma Brown, Verna Stevens, Viola Wengert and Vondale Hurdlebrink. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Bradner Rd., Northwood, with burial to follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, Perrysburg. The family has suggested memorials for Wilson to go to Calvary Lutheran Church, 1930 Bradner Rd., Northwood, OH 43619; or the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
