Wilma B. Nicholson graduated from this life on April 1, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohios Perrysburg facility due to congestive heart failure. Wilma was born to William and Bessie Walters Bentley on July 30, 1920 in Perrysburg, Ohio. Due to skipping the sixth grade, she graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1937. After graduating from Davis Business College, she worked for several years in Dr. Clark Weavers Veterinary office in Perrysburg. In 1944, she began working in Toledo Edisons downtown Toledo Office where she met Don, her future husband, in 1950. Wilma was well-liked by her fellow employees, being elected President of the womens organization. Although she never really enjoyed traveling, she headed up a trip for the group to New York City in 1949. She and Don married in 1951 and had one child, Brent, in 1954. He became an attorney and professor at BGSU but unfortunately, met an unexpected and untimely death in December 2010, following a collapse while teaching his class. Wilma never really got over his sudden death. Wilma was a true homebody, living her entire life within ten miles of her birthplace. She lived for 17 years in South Toledo on Daleford and then Beverly Drive with her last 41 years in a home they had built in Maumee. She took much satisfaction and pride in doing all the decorating in her homes. Wilma liked animals and had dogs and cats as pets in her younger years and has been a member of the Toledo Area Humane Society for many years. Wilma also liked people and having good friends. Family and friends were very important in Wilmas life. She had a number of friends for a lifetime but they have all preceded her in death. She still had a number of close friends who have been together for over 50 years. She had a good sense of humor and a quick wit. She never cared much for card games for she would rather talk than concentrate on her cards. She had been a member and officer in a number of groups, including the Upriver Book Club, Village Garden Club , and SAMAGAMA. She has been an active member of Zion United Methodist Church for the last 57 years. She did volunteer work at Toledo Hospital and the St. Lukes Hospital after it opened. She enjoyed volunteering very much. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold, sister Naomi and her son, Brent. She is survived by her husband Don, grandson Bradley Michelle Nicholson, granddaughter Lindsay Jameson Czech, great-grandson Harrison Czech and former daughter-in-law Ann Dick Evans. Wilma and her family appreciated the kind and compassionate caregiving provided through Senior Care Resources during the past two years, especially by Doreen, Angie, Tracy, Linda and Emily. Visitation will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 2 pm. until 7 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, 2600 Copland Blvd. Toledo, Ohio. Interment will be private in Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg, Ohio.
