Wilma S. Lorensen

Wilma S. Lorensen, age 102, a lifelong resident of Oak Harbor, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, in Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born in Carroll Township on May 28, 1908, to Frederick and Mary Gutknecht Thorbahn. On April 15, 1933, in Oak Harbor she married Carl Lorensen and he preceded her in death July 1, 1969. Wilma was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She also cleaned the Oak Harbor Hotel for over 20 years. Wilma loved housekeeping and ironing and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery. She enjoyed bowling and was active in many different card clubs. Wilma was a member and very active at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, as well as the Sarah Circle. She also taught Sunday School there. Wilma is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barb Lorensen, grandchildren, Beth Lorensen, Angie Lorensen, Brian Lorensen and Holly Wayland, two great grandchildren, Isaac and Micah Wonderly, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Roger and Fred Lorensen, brothers, Frederick Fritz and Carl Thorbahn, sisters, Sophia Behlmer and Anna Minier and an infant brother. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with interment to follow in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions for Wilma may be given to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, or Stein Hospice.
