William Lee Zorn, Iii

March 16, 1999 — February 18, 2018

William Lee Zorn III, age 18, died unexpectedly on February 18, 2018. William was born March 16, 1999, and was a proud 2017 graduate of St. Francis De Sales High School. He was a freshman at Lourdes University studying environmental science with the goal of becoming a federal game warden and had recently been accepted into the Wildlife Officer Program at Hocking College. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was an Eagle Scout associated with Troop 87 in Sylvania. Always interested in helping others, William built rain barrels for Sylvania Family Services for his Eagle Scout project and was a proud lifetime member of the National Eagle Scout Association. He also loved country music, blacksmithing and welding. William had a strong faith and will be lovingly remembered for his gentle, affectionate nature. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Sarai Shaneck-Zorn; father, William Lee Zorn, Jr.; grandparents, Susan Shaneck and William and Sandra Zorn; aunts, Michelle (Steve) Kuebler and Shannon (Leonard) Hyde as well as numerous extended-family members, and many other close family and friends. His maternal grandfather, Gary Shaneck, preceded William In death in 2014. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, from 1-4 PM at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Road). A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Monday, February 26, at Gesu Catholic Church, 5049 Parkside Boulevard, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in William’s name to St. Francis de Sales School in Toledo, Ohio, or the Erie Shores Boy Scout Council. The loving and tender care shown to Sarai and her mother by family members Christine Moore, Stephanie (Rob) Fulop, Heather (Ed) Keaton, Michelle and Pete Emch, Brad (Jenn) Moore, and our very special friend, Ralph Cordrey, will forever be held dear in our hearts. Also, our deepest gratitude is extended to the faculty and administration of Lourdes University, Father Geoffrey Rose O.S.F.S., as well as the faculty staff of St Francis de Sales High School, and Scoutmaster Michael Lynn, whose love and compassion towards William will never be forgotten. We would also like to thank all of the people who’ve supported Bill, Jr, Amy and his family through this very difficult and trying time. There are too many to count and we feel truly blessed to have all of you in our lives. A special thank you to Pam, Kerri, Rita, Martha, Cookie and Aida for all you’ve done and the countless prayers. All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king. -J.R.R. Tolkien
