William (Bill) L. Welker, age 80, joined his heavenly Father on February 25, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children. Bill was married to his high school sweetheart of 60 years, Beverly (Johnson) Welker and was the proud father and Papa to Brent (Ellen) Welker and their children Megan (fiancé Mark Huml), Lauren (Danny) Barren and Riley; son Brian (Jo) Welker, and their children Caleb and Haley; and daughter Bridget Peterson and her children, Avery, Sage and Nicholas. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Welker.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Welker and sisters Marilyn Welker and Mary Suzanne "Sue" Gloyd.
Bill worked for Chrysler Corporation, Perrysburg, for 45+ years. He started on the floor and worked his way up to Area Manager. After retirement, he was asked to come back and oversee operations for third shift, which he did for another 4 years. During his time with Chrysler, he served as a mentor to many people as he loved to see people succeed.
Bill Welker was a man of integrity who prioritized God in his life as witnessed through his 41 years at Maumee United Methodist Church serving on Kairos Prison Ministry teams and work mission trips to New Orleans.
He was an active member of Toledo Calvary Church for the last 11 years. Given the gift of hospitality, he enjoyed serving as a greeter and being part of a men's life group.
Bill was also very involved with his family. Bill did everything possible to never miss a game or event his children were involved with. He took his vows of marriage and the gift of being a father to his three children seriously. All who knew him recognized his love for his family. This love also included his 10-year-old golden doodle named Bogey.
He enjoyed exercising and being active, working out often. He loved playing golf with friends from Waterside and with his family. Everyone knew that he was an avid Notre Dame fan. He felt very blessed when he was at the ocean with his family, watching the waves and enjoying the rays, knowing that above all else, God is good!
Friends and family will be received on Sunday March 1st from 4:00-7:00 at Witzler-Shank- Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. There will be a celebration of life at 11:00 on Monday March 2nd with a visitation prior to the service at 10:00 at Calvary Church, 1360 Conant St. Maumee, Ohio 43537.
Our family would like to thank the HVICU Team at Toledo Hospital. You totally rock!
