William F. Steven, Iv

William “Bill” F. Steven IV, 73, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 31, 2022. He was born in Blue Island, Illinois on March 1, 1949, to William F. and Lucille (Leslie) Steven III. He met the girl of his dreams, a nursing student, Penny E. (Nemeth), while he was a patient at Toledo Hospital, and on September 12, 1970, they were married at Trilby United Methodist Church, in Toledo.

Bill received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from BGSU and his MBA from Kent State University. He spent 10 years at the University of Michigan Hospital as a registered radiologic technologist and finished his working career at the former Brush-Wellman, in Elmore, Ohio, retiring in 2012.

Bill enjoyed the outdoors and excelled at gardening and maintaining his yard. Estate sales, flea markets, and thrift stores were places frequented by Bill, where he found new decorations for his lawn and garden. When he was not outdoors, he studied American and European history, religiously read the New York Times, and enjoyed a good cigar!

Those who survive Bill include his loving wife of 52 years, Penny; son, Nathan (Sarah) Steven; sister, Carol (Harry) Saettel; sisters-in-law, Judy (Dave) Waggoner and Mary Steven, his K-9 grand dogs, “Marty” and “Gator”, his beloved K-9 companion, “Lilly”; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucille and brother, Allan Steven.

Per Bill’s request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society of the donor’s choice or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
