William J Sickles, Sr.

WILLIAM J. “BILL” SICKLES, SR. William J. “Bill” Sickles, Sr, 96, of Perrysburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at The Manor of Perrysburg. He was born in Toledo on October 17, 1921 to Clarence and Blanche (Milton) Sickles. Bill was a WWII veteran in the American Division, serving in the South Pacific for three years. He was married on Janaury 26, 1946 to Jessie A. Zimmerman who preceded him in death on November 5, 2009. Bill worked for over forty-one years in many different capacities with the Sun Oil Company as an instrument technician. He was a former member the Perrysburg Lions Club, was a Meals on Wheels volunteer at the Perrysburg Senior Center and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg. He is survived by his son, James H. (companion, Rebecca Walters) Sickles of Perrysburg; granddaughters, Jennifer Coffman of Nolensville, TN and Christine (Ken) Sickles Boyer of Lakewood, OH; step grandsons, Ryan Walters of Houston, OH, and Patrick (Brooke) Walters of Dublin, OH; great-grandchildren, Austin, Sophie, Erin and Cooper; step-great grandchildren, Hayden and Ava Walters; brother, Richard Sickles. Along with his wife, Jessie, he was preceded in death by his son, William “John” Sickles Jr., daughters-in-law, Diane and Betty Sickles. Friends will be received Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 11:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH 43551 (419-874-3133) where funeral services will begin at 12:30 P.M., with Pastor Harry Kearns, officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Second St., Perrysburg, OH or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, Oh 43551.
