William E. Rutchow, age 77 of Toledo passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born March 10, 1938 in Toledo to Edwin and Margaret (Fleming) Rutchow. Bill was a 1956 graduate of DeVilbiss High School and was as merry as one will ever be. After high school he attended Michigan State University where he earned his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering followed by his Masters degree in Business Administration. After college graduation Bill served his country in the US Army being honorably discharged in 1964. He began his career at Owens-Illinois as a mechanical engineer working in the Libbey division. While at O-I he was instrumental in the construction of One Seagate. After retirement he went to work as facilities manager at the University of Toledo retiring again in 2001. A terrific husband and father, he was easy to live with, generous and always ready to make a new friend or chat with an old one. Bill was an avid Michigan State fan and enjoyed fishing, glass blowing, reading and golf. Preceded in death by his father Edwin Rutchow and mother Margaret Rotunno, he is survived by his wife Mary; son William Stewart Rutchow and grandchildren Zak and Hayley Rutchow; daughter Mary (Bruce) Morgan and grandchildren Anna and James Morgan; and sisters Barbara Santchi and Betty Bowman. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Monday, December 28 after 11 AM where funeral services will follow at 1 PM. Interment will be private. A celebration of Bills life will be announced for later that day. The family suggests donations in Bills memory be to a charity of the donors choice.
