William F. Reed, Jr.

Mar 19, 1942 — Sep 15, 2026

William (Bill) Reed, born March 19, 1942 passed away with his family by his side at Hospice of

Northwest Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Patricia (Pat) and children David (Jen),

Matthew (Meghan), and Carrie (Justin) Donaldson, grandchildren Erin, Adeline, Anna, Benjamin,

Christian, and Reed.

Bill's pride and joy was his family. He loved having the family over and enjoyed his grandkids

immensely. But what really drove Bill was his commitment to his bride Patty and the family

they built together. It was so important to him and he set a great example by making his family

first in all he did.

His Catholic faith was paramount to him and he showed it not by what he said by what he did.

He ensured his kids were raised in a Catholic home and attended Mass regularly.

Bill enjoyed fixing things around the house and working on projects, he was a jack of all trades,

having remodeled each of the family houses and helped his kids on their houses. He did

projects for friends and much of his work stands today. He was a skilled tile setter and cabinet

maker refurbishing many kitchens and bathrooms around Toledo. His work ethic was second

to none, a quality has has instilled in his children and grandchildren.

If you asked him where he worked he would always tell you about the 20 years he spent at the

Toledo Zoo working in a variety of roles as a young man. The three Reed kids would spend

many days at the Zoo in their childhood leading to fond memories. He retired from the Toledo

Public Schools bus garage, but held a variety of roles including sales, management and many

years at Pepsi as a technician.

Bill faced and persevered through much adversity in his life, being raised by his grandmother

and suffering for most of his adult life with severe arthritis. A marvel of modern medicine, Bill

had a strong constitution that saw him through several hospital stays and 6 years of dialysis.

He had a stubbornness that was legendary, but allowed him to keep moving forward no matter

what life threw at him. His whole goal was to be with his wife and family. His family was

blessed with extra time with him as he endured illness.
