William “Bill” F. Newell, 85, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Toledo Hospital. Born on July 20, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio he was the beloved son of the late Charles and Jane (Schulz) Newell.
Bill graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1957 and later earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Michigan State University in 1963. He started his career at Cadillac as an accountant before moving to Questor, which eventually became AP Parts, where through hard work and long hours he achieved the title of Vice President. After retiring from AP Parts, he served as the CFO at Shumaker, Loop And Kendrick LLP, until his retirement.
In 1963, Bill married Susan Jean Mauter. Though their marriage ended in 1974, he found love again with Susan MacKenzie. They met on a blind date and, after a whirlwind romance, got engaged two weeks later and married on July 26, 1975, just six months after their first meeting.
He was an avid lover of sports, especially Michigan State football and basketball. He held season tickets to Michigan State football games for many years and enjoyed tailgating before the games. His passion extended to Detroit sports, as he frequently attended various sporting events with friends and family. In addition, he was a dedicated golfer and loved the time spent with friends on the course.
Bill will be remembered by everyone that knew him for his silly sense of humor. He always lit up any room he entered. His love for having his family around and making everyone laugh was a defining trait. He had a unique way of showing his pride in others, often patting them on the back when he was proud of their accomplishments. Bill was well-liked by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
He is survived by his son, Michael Newell, his daughter, Cynthia Seaver and two granddaughters, Lauren (Drew) Strobel and Teagan Hass along with two siblings, Jim (Carleen) Newell and Peggy Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Susan M Newell. He will also be very dearly missed by his cherished dog, Breslin.
