William J. “Rocky” Mattoni, age 77, of Maumee, passed away on January 10, 2021 at his home with loving family by his side. He was born March 30, 1943 in Toledo to the late Rocco and Josephine (Simmons) Mattoni. He graduated from Whitmer High School and owned and operated Rocky’s Body Shop in downtown Toledo from 1967 until retirement in 2014. Rocky also loved attending car shows and drag races, traveling to their Florida home of 16 years and being on the water whenever he could. He also owned a horse farm in Swanton for over 20 years. Rocky will be lovingly remembered for his cigars he smoked and the stories he shared. The Mayor of 11th Street will be missed by many. Surviving are his children, Michael, Dean (Nikki) and Lisa (Rob); and grandchildren, Deanna and Andrea as well as his friend and recent caretaker, Elaine Nicolaidis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eileen “Lee” Mattoni in 2017. Due to the circumstances, services will be held at another time along with a celebration of his life. Contributions in Rocky’s name are suggested to St Joseph’s Church, Maumee.
