William L. Davis

William L. Davis, age 79, of Toledo, died peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Bill was born September 2, 1936 in Williamsport, Pa. to the late Leroy and Anabelle (Paradise) Davis. A 1958 graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, he worked in the leather and hide trading business for many years, primarily at Seton Company in Toledo. Bill was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals and also enjoyed reading, visiting the casino, attending harness races and drum corps competitions. A member of Christ the King Church, he was devout in his Catholic Faith. Bill worked as a volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society, served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, delivered Mobile Meals to the homebound and visited the sick at local hospitals, distributing Holy Communion. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy A. (Garland) Davis; children, Curt, Chris (Monique), and Steve Davis, Cindy Adams, Robert (Michelle) and Dan (Shauna) Davis, Jen (Patrick) Pimentel, Maria (Thomas) Stahl and Brian (Kimmy) Davis; 25 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren (and 3 more on the way); and brother, Gary Davis. Bill was also preceded in death by a grandson, Tommie Stahl; and sister, Sherri Popliolek. Family and friends are invited to visit from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623 with burial to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to Christ the King Parish or the churchs St. Vincent DePaul Society.
