William L. Benner

William Lee Benner age 63 of Whitehouse passed away Saturday February 2, 2013 in St. Lukes Hospital surrounded by the comfort of his family. He was born October 14, 1949 in Toledo to Eddie and Hermina Michel Benner. A graduate of DeVilbiss High School, Bill was also an Air Force veteran of the Viet Nam war. He retired from IBEW Local 8 in 2011 and continued to enjoy the camaraderie of his extended labor family. Bill enjoyed politics and was active in the Lucas County Democratic Party. He was an avid Buckeye fan and will be remembered for his contagious laugh and sense of humor. Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and travelling with his beloved wife, Susan. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law James E. Ferguson; and special nephews Trevor Ferguson and Greg Shadix. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 33 years, Susan; children Jessica D. Mario Catenacci, William M. Benner and Dana E. fiance Kristen Barker Benner; granddaughter Bianca D. Catenacci; sister Mary Shadix; brother Eddie Ricki Benner; and brothers-in-law Gary Ann Ferguson, Kevin Sandra Ferguson, Patrick Sue OBrien Ferguson and Shawn Amy Ferguson. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Tuesday from 2-9 PM where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM with interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
