William L. Kreutz (Bill) age 92, of Ottawa Hills, died peacefully at home the morning of April 18. He was born in Cincinnati to Frank and Irene Kreutz and grew up in Lakewood, Ohio. Bill was a graduate of Northwestern University, serving as President of the Phi Gamma Delta chapter for two years and went on to graduate from Case Western Reserve Law School. He served our country as a proud member of the 69th Infantry Division during World War II, and later practiced law at Fuller, Harrington, and Seney where he met his wife of nearly 60 years, Helen Seney. He spent the majority of his professional career at Owens Corning where he retired in 1988. Bill was an avid golfer and fondly remembered playing the great courses of Ireland and Scotland. Growing up in Cleveland he was a spirited fan of the Indians and Browns. In spite of graduating from Northwestern, he also loved the Buckeyes and was thrilled to see the Bucks bring home last year’s National Championship. Bill was equally passionate about learning and travel. He insisted on a good education for his four children and spent much of his retirement taking history classes at the University of Toledo. He was inspired through knowledge and classes at UT which frequently led to Bill getting out his well-worn maps and planning a magical adventure to a faraway place where he could live what he learned and share meaningful experiences with the family he loved so much. He rented villas throughout Europe for his family and friends so they had time to relax and truly experience the monasteries, cathedrals and art museums that were so rich with the history that inspired him. He twice went to Africa to get up close with his fascination of lions and after years of studying the history of the Great Dynasties, he took his final long distance adventure in his 80s to The Forbidden City and The Great Wall of China. Bill traveled the world with a sense of adventure, yet never lost sight of the importance of humanity and living life with integrity. He was a devout Christian and walked with God throughout his life. He gave so much of himself to us all and we will miss him dearly. Bill is survived by his wife Helen; sons Frank (Anita) and David (Cheryl), his daughters, Anne Kreutz Hughes and Sarah (Pat) McIntyre; grandchildren; Kevin, Brian, and J.P. Kreutz; Nicole Walker; Amelia, Owen, Ellen, and Hannah Hughes; Laura, Nick, Will, and Colin McIntyre. At Bill’s request, there will not be visitation. Private family graveside services to be held at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Walker Funeral Home and will include online condolences, www.walkerfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Chapter, The Nature Conservancy 6375 Riverside Dr. Suite 100, Dublin, Ohio 43017 or a charity of donor’s choice. Our family would like to especially thank the staff of Senior Independence for their loving support and excellent care of Bill during his last four months.
