William V. Kline, age 84, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, after a brief illness. Bill was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School, and a National Guard veteran. He spent much of his working life as a firefighter on the Toledo Fire Department retiring after 37 years. During this time Bill enjoyed working part time at a moving company. After retirement, he was a volunteer firefighter for Perrysburg Fire Department for an additional 3 years. He also held a part time position with Ken's Flower Shop delivering flowers and furniture. Most recently, he worked seasonally for Garlic Expressions. Bill was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee generously volunteering his time for their semi-annual rummage sale and other church functions. He was also a member of Elks Lodge #1850 in Maumee.
In his spare time, Bill enjoyed working outdoors in the yard. He even built a 2-story barn and garden shed to hold his many, many tools. He was a hard worker and always made sure to stay busy. The first thing he did in the morning was feed the squirrels, birds, and rabbits. He never went long without having one or two cat companions either. Other recreational activities Bill participated in were swimming, skiing, boating, golfing, and biking. He could be found doing many of these activities right up to his passing. Bill and his wife Marilyn travelled extensively and enjoyed their trips to many European countries, Costa Rica, and vacationing with family in northern Michigan.
William V. Kline was born on May 1, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Charles and Florence (Lybarger) Kline. He married Marilyn (Melle) Kline on June 8th, 1963, and the two enjoyed 59 years of beautiful marriage.
In addition to his wife, left to cherish his memory include his children, Karen (Kurt) Cohan and Tim Kline; grandchild, Matthew (Carissa Labell) Cohan; great-grandchildren, Gabby and Lily, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles, and Florence; sister, Shirley Pereus and brother, Charles Kline.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 10:00am, at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee after the graveside service at approximately 12:30pm.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or Lucas County Humane Society.
