William W Kersey

William W. Kersey, age 78, of Oregon, Ohio passed away peacefully at Hospice of NW Ohio in Perrysburg on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. He was born June 29, 1934 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Archie and Myrtis (Colvard) Kersey. William moved to Toledo, Ohio in the early 1940’s. He graduated from Macomber High School in 1953 and began working at Fiske Brothers Refinery in June of 1953. William was drafted into the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the “John A. Bole” where he earned the coveted “China Seas Service Award.” William marred the love of his life, Patricia (Stoltz) Kersey, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on November 30, 1955. He was a CYO basketball coach for 12 for Good Shepherd Parish. Mr. Kersey served as a board member for the East Toledo Family Center for many years. He was a loving husband and father. Left to cherish his memory is his wife and companion of 55 years Patricia; daughters Colleen (Juan) Hinojosa, Karen (Gary) Coehrs; sons Michael (Joel Hill) Kersey, William (Tracie) Kersey; grandchildren, Lisa (Lindsey Trace) Wagner, Danielle (Tim) Kazee, Sean Hinojosa, Stephen (Megan Klonowski) Hinojosa, William Kersey, Allison Kersey, Nathan Kersey; great-grandchildren, Avery Hinojosa and Jude Kazee; brother Jeryl (Nancy) Kersey; sisters Linda (Ken) Moore, Cheryl (Gene) Shurtz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as good friend Irene Farkas. William was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lorne Kersey and mother and father-in-law Margret and John Stoltz. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 11 am. Family will receive friends one hour before the service, at 10 am. Lunch will be served following at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, American Heart Association, East Toledo Family Center or Helping Hands.
