William Jones

William Jones, affectionately known as “Bill”, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024. His vibrant life was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Bill was born April 1, 1954, in Toledo, OH to Carlton and Kay Jones.

Bill was a dedicated truck driver who spent his career working for Republic Services. He retired after 25 plus years of committed service.

Bill was a man of many interests and accomplishments. As a proud OSU fan, he cheered for his team with unwavering passion. His dedication to sports was diverse. Bill was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Boston Celtics, and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt.

Bill’s love for bowling was undeniable. He actively participated in it in Parent-Child Leagues, Ma and Pa Leagues and traveled to a tournament in Reno, NV. Bill’s personal greatest accomplishment was bowling 4 perfect games.

Bill was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge, where he formed lasting friendships. He often went to the lodge with his friends, Leroy and Larry. His mornings often began with breakfast shared with friends, a testament to his sociable nature.

A lover of the outdoors, Bill found joy in mowing the lawn and tending to his yard. His favorite vacations were spent camping with loved ones and making memories that would be cherished for years to come. Bill’s love for animals was unmistakable, especially when it came to his cherished companions—dogs. Their loyal presence brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, one of his favorite destinations was the Toledo Zoo, where he likely found solace and wonder amidst the diverse wildlife.

William will be remembered as a great dad by his daughter, Sara (Doug Case) Lowe. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Kaylynn, Brodee, Claytonn and David; and sisters Betsy Harris and Laurie Hodnicki. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Shelly Jones.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2023, at 12:00 PM, at Toledo Memorial Park. Those attending the service are asked to wear OSU colors in honor of Bill.

Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
