William “Bill” E. Hodges, 83, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025. Born in Toledo on September 22, 1941, to Harley and Betty (Ellwood) Hodges, Bill lived a life defined by love, dedication, and service to others.
He was married for 59 wonderful years to the love of his life, Penny (Sincock) Hodges. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, shared passions, and unwavering support for one another.
Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from GMI and later a master’s degree in management from the University of Toledo. His professional life was marked by intelligence, integrity, and a willingness to help others—qualities he carried into retirement, where he generously shared his computer and management skills with friends, neighbors, and his homeowner’s association.
A devoted husband, phenomenal father, and proud grandfather, Bill found immense joy in his family. He coached his daughter Kim’s softball team, cheered daughter Kasey on at dance recitals, and never missed a chance to be present in the lives of those he loved. He and Penny were avid sports fans, faithfully following The Ohio State Buckeyes, the NHL’s Dallas Stars, and MLB’s Cincinnati Reds.
He was also a passionate foodie, with a special love for Mexican cuisine. Bill delighted in discovering new dishes, visiting local eateries, and sharing meals with loved ones. He especially enjoyed traveling—particularly trips to Las Vegas with Penny—and was rooted in his Presbyterian faith.
Bill’s legacy is one of love and will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife Penny; daughters: Kim (Jack) Dickey and Kasey; grandchildren: Jack Dickey, Nicole Dickey, Gavin Dickey, Caleb Myrice, and Blake Myrice. He was preceded in death by his parents Harley and Betty Hodges, as well as his sister Polly Hodges.
