William Michael Heringhaus

William Michael Heringhaus, age 73, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on November 10, 2016. He was born on November 15, 1942 to Robert and Alma (Gulker) Heringhaus of Ottawa, Ohio. Bill attended The Ohio State University. In his early years, he enjoyed being on his boats, the Tee Totaler, the Tee Totaler II, and the Pickled Herring. Following his time at Ohio State, he worked at Heringhaus Furniture in Ottawa, which was founded by his Grandfather, Bernard Heringhaus in 1908. In 1973, Bill and his brother Allen, opened their own Heringhaus Furniture store in Bowling Green, Ohio. He and his wife Marlene were married December 27, 1974 at St. Barbara’s Church in Cloverdale, Ohio. Bill’s passions included spending time with his family and friends, boating, watching Ohio State Football, gardening, and using his creativity to make stained glass art. His impact on our lives will remain in our hearts forever. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene (Miller) Heringhaus; children, Craig (Brianna) Heringhaus, Stephanie Heringhaus, and Ashley (Joseph) Siedlak; siblings, Donald (Kay) Heringhaus, James (Chris) Heringhaus, Allen (Pam) Heringhaus, and Ann Beth (Russ) Heringhaus; sisters-in-law, Jane Heringhaus and Mary Heringhaus; and 40 nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Thomas Heringhaus, Bernard Heringhaus, and Mary Jane (Heringhaus) Schmenk; mother in-law, Marcella (Kahle) Miller; and nephew, Andrew J. Altenburger. Family and friends may visit at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43623 on Sunday, November 13th, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00pm. Services will begin on Monday with prayers at 9:30am at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623 at 10:00am. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to his nurse, Kris and caregiver, Cookie from Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice (formerly Senior Independence). In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy in Bill’s memory are asked to consider a donation to The American Brain Tumor Association for Glioblastoma Research by Dr. Jeremy Rich of the Cleveland Clinic.
