William R. Hawkins

William Robert Hawkins, age 85, of Sylvania, Ohio died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Toledo Hospital. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 13, 1930 to Earl and Erna Hawkins and on April 21, 1956 he married Barbara Ann Wendt. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of Providence Lutheran Church, and he worked as an Operating Engineer at Kuhlman’s Builders for over forty years. As a certified concrete engineer, he also enjoyed building houses in Michigan and he loved hunting, fishing, the Detroit Tigers, The Ohio State Buckeyes and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Hawkins; daughter, Jean (Jack) Abrell and Linda (Tim) Macklenar; grandchildren, Bill Abrell, Susan (Trey) Flint, Mitch and Doug Macklenar. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his daughter, Lori Ann Hawkins. Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway in Holland (419-865-8879) where the funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Providence Lutheran Church.
