William C. Bill Hartough

William C. “Bill” Hartough, 88, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at The University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born on February 11, 1929 in Toledo to William C. and Marie (Cochran) Hartough and he married Joanne L. Grabner on August 6, 1966 also in Toledo. Bill attended Scott High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea. In the 50’s and 60’s Bill worked as a freelance photographer before being employed by the University of Toledo as their events photographer. Bill could be found running up and down the sidelines at every football game. He was employed with the University of Toledo for over 40 years before retiring in 2005. Bill loved animals and during his 50 year marriage to Joanne, they adopted many animals. In January 2016 the Toledo Library held an exhibition of his photography entitled The Works of Sam Szor and Bud Kerwin. Bill, in his later years, enjoyed grocery shopping and cooking. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Joanne L. Hartough; nieces, Misty Barth and Dorian Barth, both of Westport, Connecticut; nephew, Warren Grabner; brother-in-law, Walter (Karen Frost) Grabner and beloved pet cats, Mini, Hidey and Blackie. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Martha Blanchard, Kappie Opper and Suzanne Barth. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
