William Harris

William P. Bill Harris, 83, of Toledo, died April 30, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Bill was born May 2, 1930 in Eddyville, KY to the late Willie Lee and Blanche Woods Harris. A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Bill was employed as a welder for 20 years with Art Iron. He enjoyed fishing and all types of sports but was especially fond of baseball and the Detroit Tigers. He will be remembered for his terrific sense of humor and as an excellent protector of his family. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Keith Danetta and Karletta Jim Bell Harris, Jervon and Quintella Witcher; grandchildren, Keishaundra Keke Lamarr Labiche, Keith Harris and Tyrefa Hill; great grandchildren, JaySean and RaeAnna; sister, Hortense Johnson; and sister-in-law, Nina Harris. He was also preceded in death by his spouse, Gladys Witcher Harris; and a brother, Walter Harris. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 8 from 5-7 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. concluded with a memorial service and military rites at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the USO.
