William Joseph Hanrahan

William Joseph “Bill” Hanrahan, 84, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the University of Toledo Medical Center after a short but courageous battle with dementia. He was born in Davenport, IA to Lloyd and Cyrilla (Bathalter) Hanrahan on December 22, 1936. Bill graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport, IA and then received his bachelor’s degree from St. Ambrose College. He married his loving wife, Carol DeRoo, in May of 1962. Bill worked as a financial planner and ended his career retiring from Morgan Stanley. Bill was a member of Sylvania Country Club. He and his wife enjoyed their yearly visits to Naples, FL and their several trips abroad. He loved to make people laugh and will be remembered for his exceptional sense of humor. His family will continue the Hanrahan tradition of the “Happy Days” toast at the holidays. Bill is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Katie (Dave) Lankard, Mike (Rhonda) Hanrahan, Molly (John) Finn, Mary (Scott) Kaser, Beth (Brett) White, Kerry (Mike) Morgan, Kelly (Sean) Paulus; grandchildren, Megan (Wade) Coffman, Missy Lankard, Nick Lankard, Lauren Lankard, Rhett Hanrahan, Morgan Finn, Maggie Finn, Ryan Finn, Sean Finn, Katy Kaser, Zach Kaser, Kevin Kaser, Lucas White, Max White, Kara White, Molly Morgan, Drew Morgan, Reed Morgan, Jack Paulus, Anna Paulus, Grace Paulus; twin great-grandchildren on the way; and countless other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Janice Roemer and Mary Jo Hasenmiller. Friends will be received on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43551 (419-841-2422). A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main Street, Sylvania, OH 43560. Entombment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to a local Catholic School of your choice.
