William Henry Grimm, age 87 of Lambertville, MI, passed away peacefully January 4, 2015. Bill was born in Haskins, OH on March 18, 1927 to William Jacob Grimm and Celestia Smith Grimm. Bill worked on the family farm and attended Washington Township High School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1945. He continued farm work with his brother-in-law, Bob Schwartz, until being drafted into the Army in 1950. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1952 with the rank of Master Sargeant. He married Beverly Jane Lenfestey in 1953 in Toledo, OH. Bill enjoyed several occupations throughout his work life including farming, sales, gun smithing, and being an aircraft mechanic. Bill also greatly enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and shooting all types of firearms. Bill was a longtime member of the Maumee Valley Gun Collectors Association. He had his private pilots license and owned his own airplane when his boys were small. Bill enjoyed fabricating and welding large projects such as boat trailers in his free time. He had a good sense of humor and was mischievous. He was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, serving in several capacities there since 1966, including church council member, Sunday School superintendent, and choir member. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Beverly. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Modesta Grimm Schwartz, brother Merle Grimm and brother Robert Grimm. His brother Lawrence Grimm survives. He is survived by his oldest son William (Kimberly), and their children, Marie Grimm Savett, Sarah Grimm, William Grimm, and John Grimm; son David (Linda), and their children, Alicia Grimm Judit, Elizabeth Grimm, and Robert Grimm; daughter, Mary Grimm Palmer (Alec) and their daughter, Holly Palmer. He also has six great-grandchildren. Family was very important to Bill and Bev and they loved spending time with the children and grandchildren. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11 am at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2820 W. Alexis Rd., Toledo, OH. There will be a luncheon at the church immediately following the service. The family requests that contributions be made in lieu of flowers to the church.
