Bill Green was united with his Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 20, 2012. He lived with his wife, Diane, at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania for 3 years and was a Sylvania resident for 35 years. Bill was born in Butler, PA June 7, 1934. He graduated from Butler High School in 1952 and West Virginia University in 1956. At WVU, Bill was very active in campus activities, he was business manager of the yearbook, Sigma Nu fraternity member, Journalism School Graduate, Whos Who on Campus, and 1956 Senior Class President. He married the girl of his dreams, Diane Willey of Pittsburgh, on September 1, 1956 and that year Bill joined Owens-Illinois. In 1958, he was promoted to a sales position with the Libbey Glass Division in New York City. He continued his sales career with managerial positions in Seattle, New York, and at the Toledo Headquarters. Bill retired in December of 1993 after 38 years of service. Bill was very well respected by his customers nationwide for his fine service to their businesses. He had a terrific sense of humor and was also a great story teller and speaker. He was affectionately known as the Walter Cronkite of Libbey Glass by the management team. Bill was an active member of Highland Meadows Golf Club for 20 years. He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer Fan and in 2006, at his 50th class reunion, he was awarded Emeritus statusan honor he treasured. Bill loved and cherished McCord Road Christian Church whose members were his extended family, especially his Pastor, Andy Wiegand. Most of all, Bill loved his family including his beautiful wife of 55 years, Diane; sons, David and Rick; daughter, Amy Green Parker and her husband Craig. The Parker grandchildren, Adam, Anderson, and Allison, brought so much joy and love to Mimi and Papa Green. They were blessed to live just minutes away from their home. Bill is also survived by his sister, Barbara Gilman and several cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Dr. Wainz, Dr. Mallory, and the staff at the Kingston Residence. Dad appreciated their excellent care. Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 2-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30am.
