William Granger

William “Bill” Samuel Granger, 91, of Toledo, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023.

Bill graduated from the University of Toledo and received his Masters degree in English from Wayne State University. He spent most of his life in Toledo, OH where he raised his children. He was a former English teacher at Maumee High School and finished his career at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library.

He was an active member at St. Lucas Lutheran Church. He will be remembered for his piano playing, his singing and his sense of humor. He was loved by all who he came in contact with and will be missed by friends and family.

He is survived by his children, Rick (Robin) Haffner, Vickie (Alan) Geha, Janie Driscoll and John (Kelly) Granger; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane of 52 years; his parents, Harry and Lillian Granger; and his sister, Geraldine Lichtenwald.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Aviva Assisted Living and Elara Caring Hospice for their loving care and support.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4-9 p.m. at Maison-Dardenne Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH (419-893-7686). Visitation will continue Friday, February 24, 2023 from Noon-12:30 a.m. with a hymn sing from 12:30-1.p.m. at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, 745 Walbridge Rd., Toledo, Ohio, 43609 with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Aviva Glendale Assisted Living, Maumee Vocal Program or Toledo Lucas County Public Library.
