William J. Fox

William J. Fox, 81, of Toledo, OH passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 10, 1927 in Glandorf, OH to Winfred and Wilhemina Heckman Fox. Bill was a US Air Force Veteran. He was employed at the Toledo Blade as a Sports Writer retiring after 29 years as Assistant to the Sports Editor. Bill was an avid sports fan and covered the MudHens and Cleveland Indians traveling to Florida for spring training. He enjoyed reading, riding his bike and walking. The greatest love of his life was his wife Audrey and his family. Bill was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee and most recently a parishioner of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church. The widower of Audrey Fox who passed away October 30, 2008; Bill is survived by his loving family; children, Ellen David Najarian, Russell Julie Fox, Judith Kevin Rupp and Jan Jeff Heinrichs; grandchildren, Rachel, Leah, Bryan, Eric, Sarah, Lauren, Kevin, Mandy, Andrew and Audra; great granddaughter, Audrey; sisters-in-law, Ruth Fox, Pat Schroeder, Jane Leopold, Kathy Elmer Langhals and Marge Huffman; brother-in-law, Ken Cheryl Huffman and nephews, Jeff, Tom and Marc Fox. In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynne Fox and brother, Jack Fox. Family and friends may visit Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church.
