William Eugene Estok, age 76, passed away on December 27, 2024. Bill was born in Toledo on August 1, 1948, to parents Eugene and Ruby Estok.
Bill was a lifelong resident of the Toledo area. After graduating from high school, he joined the US Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country as a Corporal during the Vietnam War. Bill was an extremely hard worker who spent his time after leaving the military working two jobs, one as a Sergeant for the Washington Twp. Police Dept., and the other as a Journeyman with the Insulators Local 45.
He was never one to stay still for long. When Bill wasn’t working, he spent much of his time communicating with people around the world as amateur radio operator WD8DYO. Even in retirement he kept himself busy with perfecting his golf game. Whether through work, hobbies, travel, or spending time with the people he loved, Bill lived a full life.
Bill had a love of life that ranged from lattes and audio books to attempting to learn to use the latest technology. But what he will most be remembered for was his personality and the way he touched the lives of everyone around him. No one was a stranger to Bill. He was always happy and quick with a joke to brighten the day of anyone he met. He loved his family dearly. He was married to the love of his life, Vera, for 54 years, and together they raised two children and were now enjoying their five grandchildren. Bill’s family were his world, and they will miss him deeply.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Gregory Estok. He is survived by his wife, Vera; children, Gregg (Amy), and Sarah (Chris); grandchildren, Rusty, Matthew, Bree, Brandon “Bubba”, and Briana; and sister, Sandy (Denny) Cousino.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
