William Barton Ebert, 73, of Catawba Island, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010 at H. B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. He was born on May 27, 1937 in Sandusky, OH, the son of Roland and Ilo Selvey Ebert. On January 25, 1958 in Lorain, OH, Bill married Janice Jones and she survives. He graduated from Sandusky High School and also was a graduate of the mill wright school at General Motors. Bill worked as a mill wright for New Departure in Sandusky, OH until his retirement in 1993. He then worked for the Kelleys Island Ferry Boat line. Bill was a member of the Oak Harbor Conservation Club, Inc., Ohio Gun Collectors Association and a member of the Old Engine Club of Sandusky. He drove a 1929 truck in the Old Fashion Days parade in Marblehead, OH and the Island Fest Parade on Kelleys Island. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 52 years: Janice Ebert of Catawba Island; Grandsons: Michael W. Bubba Ebert Jr. of Bowling Green, OH and Chris Danchisen of Lorain, OH; 4 Great-Grandchildren; Daughter-in-Law: Olga Ebert of Catawba Island and his 17 cats. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and son: Michael W. Ebert Sr. Visitation will be 10AM to 2:00PM, Monday, June 21, 2010 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by the funeral service conducted by Reverend Janine Dress at 2:00PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Bill may be given to the Catawba Island Firemans Assoc. or the Ottawa County Humane Society.
