William J. Dittman, age 77, of Sylvania, passed away January 10, 2018 at The Toledo Hospital. Bill was born April 23, 1940 in Toledo and graduated from Central Catholic High School. More than 32 years of his working career was spent with Lane Drugs in Toledo where he was district manager. Bill also was employed with Revco and Pharmore Drugs before retirement in 2002. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, Bill was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus where he was twice Grand Knight. He was a lifetime member of the UT Alumni Association and was team manager of the UT Hockey Club when his son played. Bill was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams included the Rockets, Packers, Yankees and Montreal Canadiens. Bill belonged to the ROMEO Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out) who were all graduates of St. Annes Grade School. He also participated in the Sylvania Follies and Sylvania Choir for 7 years. He was devoted to his family and found his greatest joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bill will be remembered for his kindness and friendly, outgoing nature. To know him was to love him. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of more than 57 years, Diana (Nieckarz) Dittman; children, William C. (Tammy), Jeffrey (Julie), Adrienne (John Muranyi) and Nicole Dittman; daughter-in-law, Diane Dittman; grandchildren, Tennille, Billy, Jeffrey, Nicolette, Chase and Mia; great grandchildren, Gracie-Beth, Daniel, Marley and Lili; sisters, Pat Dittman, Kathy Murphy and Sandi (Mike) Glover; and his beloved dog, Daisy Mae. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and step father who raised him, Frances and Charles Dittman; father, William Bunge; and son, Daniel Dittman. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Sunday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus services will be held at 6:30 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
