William Vincent Declercq passed away at home on September 25, 2025. William was born June 26, 1978, to William and Karen Declercq. He married the love of his life, Lisa (Evans) Declercq in September, 2006. Together, they built a beautiful family with their four children.
Nothing brought Willie greater joy than watching his children grow and discover their own unique talents and gifts. He cherished being present in every part of their lives, whether cheering from the sidelines at baseball, soccer, and football games, or supporting them at speech and debate tournaments. His greatest pride was simply being their father.
Willie was a gifted artist with a unique eye for beauty in places others often overlooked. He expressed his creativity both through music and through art, finding joy in transforming ordinary objects into something extraordinary. In his younger years, Willie loved the local music scene and played in a garage band, Dyslexic boB. He always had music playing and always had a song for everyone. Willie especially loved spending time in his workshop, where he could take something discarded and breathe new life into it—like crafting a beautiful lamp from what others considered trash.
It would be remiss not to mention “Da Bears” and his beloved Buckeyes. Watching THE Ohio State Buckeyes will never be the same—every game will bring echoes of Willie’s cheering or… his grumbling. The next time you’re watching the Buckeyes, or even spot someone wearing an Ohio State shirt, yell out a proud “O-H!” for Willie.
His resistance to conformity was both one of his greatest strengths and, at times, his kryptonite. Above all, he loved his family and will be remembered for his heart of gold. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
Willie is survived by Lisa (Evans) Declercq; his four children, Olivia, Evan, Lily and Wyatt; his parents, William and Karen Declercq; his siblings, Josh Declercq, Erin (Greg) Hamilton, Susie (Jeremy) Joyner, Tommy (Beth) Declercq; many nieces and nephews; and some very dear friends, including Jeremy Chambers and Carla Hunt.
Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 2 pm to 7 pm with a scripture service beginning at 6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, beginning at 10 am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Karen Declercq to help offset the cost of college expenses for Willie's children.
