William Ray Davenport age 89 passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at St. Lukes Hospital. He was born on August 18, 1922 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Ray William and Prudence Elizabeth Ridenhour Davenport. Bill was a Navy Veteran serving in WWII and was a hospital corpsman during D-Day . He attended Bowling Green State University for 2 years majoring in psychology. He was employed with the City of Maumee in the water department for many years. He was also employed at Plascon, Allied Chemical, Syncor and the former Bank of Wood County. Bill volunteered at Medical College of Ohio for 15 years. His memberships included D-Mat, Masons and Ohio Military Reserves. Surviving are his children, Diane Robert Youngs, Michael Edie Davenport, Becky John Parks; grandchildren, Kirk Youngs, Jennifer Emil Yannelli, Buffy Terry Lewis, John Betsy Parks, III, Veronica Steve Coleman and Dawn Nathan Lewis. Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; infant daughter Cheryl Suzette and grandson, Steven Ray Parks. Family and friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 2-8 pm where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am.
