William Richard Crawford

William R. Crawford, 78, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Home, Port Clinton. He was born in Bradner, Ohio on July 11, 1944, the son of Elwood W. and Dorothy A. (Edwards) Crawford. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served from 1965-1968, attaining the rank of Sergeant. On December 15, 1987, he married Catherine “Katie” R. (Croxton).

William spent 34 years working for the Celotex Corp. of Port Clinton. Following his years at Celotex, he spent several years working for First Choice in Fremont, Ohio. William was a country music fan and enjoyed watching old TV westerns and going to flea markets. His heart was always with his family, and he filled his time enjoying their lives with family gatherings, sporting events and their accomplishments. William also liked to work on old cars with his grandsons.

William is survived by his wife, Katie, siblings, Sharon (Herb) Mullens, Susan Sarnes, Jean Crawford, Mike Crawford, and Ronnie (Billie Jo) Crawford, stepson, Chad (Faith) Lemon, grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaleb, and Drew Lemon, and great-grandson, Carter Lemon. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judy Smith, brothers, David & Larry Crawford, three half-brothers and one half-sister.

At William’s request, there will be no services. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
