William Gerhard Bruggemann

William Gerhard Bruggemann, M.D., age 82, of Toledo, died peacefully on December 9, 2016 at Franciscan Care Center. He was born May 26, 1934 in Fostoria to the late Gerhard Henry William and Dorothy (Hahn) Bruggemann. A 1952 graduate of Fostoria High School, Dr. Bruggemann did his undergraduate studies and graduated from medical school at The Ohio State University. He served his internship and residency at The Toledo Hospital before starting an OB/GYN practice with Dr. Greg Zann, where he worked for more than 40 years. Bill was a Captain in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed skiing, boating and spending time with his family. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey (Kranz) Bruggemann; children, Bruce Gerhard Bruggemann (Joan), Bradley William Bruggemann and Kimberly Ann Bruggemann; grandchildren, Erin Marie and Amy Anne Bruggemann; and sister-in-law, Eunice Sally Bruggemann. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dr. George Bruggemann. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 4855 W Central Ave, Toledo, OH 43615, where visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
