William "Bill" James Cornell

On July 22, 2025, William "Bill" Cornell, age 66, was unexpectedly called home to rest. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments at Regency Hospital of Sylvania, Ohio. Bill was born to James and Shirley Cornell in August of 1958. He grew up in Sylvania, and was the youngest of 3 children, (Roy Cornell, and Debbie Fera). Bill attended Sylvania Schools, where he met his high school sweetheart, Janette. After graduating in 1976, Bill set off for Texas where he began his career serving the United States Air Force. Upon completion of basic training, he returned home to marry the love of his life.

Bill and Janette began their adventure shortly after marrying in 1978. During their enamored 47 years of marriage, they created 5 wonderful children Jennifer (Bill) Brandt, Melissa Cornell, Michael Cornell, Stefanie (James) Huddleston, Matthew (Savannah) Cornell.

Bill served 23 years as a fuel's specialist in the USAF. Throughout his dedicated career he and his family traveled all over the world. He served in the Gulf War and received high honors and recognition. He volunteered his time serving his community, painting houses, and delivering food to those in need. In Bill's spare time he enjoyed bowling on a league with his wife, making everlasting memories. Bill was on the military base softball team for many years. He loved to cook for his family and friends. Some of his specialties were peanut butter fudge and beans and cornbread. He never missed an opportunity to watch a Detroit Tigers or UConn game. Bill was adored by his grandchildren, often mentoring and guiding them throughout the changes in life. His lighthearted energy kept his grandchildren full of laughter and love. He will be missed dearly by his surviving 11 grandchildren; Trey, Avarey, Nicolas, Aaron - Dylan, Ashton - Justin, Logan, Caiden, Abigail, Christian.

Bill left behind a legacy as a devoted husband, beloved father, and a doting Papa. He will be cherished and missed deeply. Our hearts are forever in his hands.

Those who were close to Bill and his family can contact them directly for information regarding the celebration of his life. In memory of Bill a service of full military honors will be presented at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania, OH.
