William C. Benedict passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2012. He was 88. William was born August 2, 1923, in Port Clinton, OH, son of Guy and Agnes Clausen Benedict. Beloved husband of Marjorie Balduf for 63 years. Bill graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1941. He attended Miami University in Ohio and Tiffin Business College until he was drafted into World War II. He was in the 44th Infantry Division, 118th Battalion and discharged in 1945. Bill began the W.C. Benedict Construction Company and was owner and operator for over 30 years. He was also a member of Trinity United Methodist church, a past president of Port Clinton Lions Club and past president and twelve year member of the Port Clinton Board of Education. Bill was Commodore of the Port Clinton Yacht Club in 1966, a member of Oliver H. Perry Lodge, No. 341, Scottish Rite - Valley of Toledo, The Ottawa County Shrine Club, and a member of the Port Clinton Power Squadron. Bills love of boats started when he was a Sea Scout as a boy. He sailed and raced his own sail boat, the B-KALM, then became a power boat owner since his family enjoyed fishing. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include his wife Marjorie. He is the loving father of Ann Miller of Mequon, WI, Kay Winston of Larchmont, NY, and Lee David Temby of Bel Air, MD. Proud grandfather of Emily Charles Conard Penner, Jennifer Chris Winston Lagasse, Grant Winston, Ben Rachael Temby and Tim Temby. Great Grandchildren: Rowen and Isaac Temby and Andrew Lagasse. Bill is preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call Friday, April 27th from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m at Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice and Trinity United Methodist Church.
