Willa Mae Billie Phillips, 79, of Genoa died early Friday morning, March 14, 2008, in St. Charles-Mercy Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. She was born March 4, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, to Claude and Aldaretta Perrin VanGunten. On June 18, 1948, in Toledo she married Dale E. Phillips, who preceded her in death. Billie was a production manager for State Aerial Farm Statistics, Inc. in Toledo for 36 years retiring in 1996. Her many memberships included past president of the Genoa Area Senior Citizens, the American Legion Auxiliary and past president of the Lucas County Council, president six times of the American Legion Auxiliary, Dunberger Post in Oregon, and past presidents of the State Chapeau 8/40 and the Sama Gama Club of Presidents. Surviving Billie are her children, Michael Carol Phillips of Curtice, Claudette Jack Allred of Martin and Gail David Vasko of Martin; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and sister, Joanne Traver of Millbury. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dale, daughters, Merrilee, Peggy, and Dalinda, and grandsons, John Dale and David Michael. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, and 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa. An American Legion Auxiliary service will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, with interment to follow in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. The family has suggested memorials for Billie to the Genoa Care Center or the American Legion Christ Dunberger Post #537, Oregon.
