Wilhelmina "Willie" L. Barnes

Wilhelmina “Willie” L. Barnes, 87, of Curtice, Ohio, died Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Stein Hospice Center in Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on May 24, 1933 in Rocky Ridge, Ohio to Ervin A. and Audy (Holder) Barnes and was raised by her grandparents, Emma & William Holder. She graduated from Genoa High School and went to work for Gulf Oil in Toledo, Ohio and later to Burndy Corp. in Millbury, Ohio. Willie retired from Georgia Pacific (James River) in 1998. Willie loved gardening, woodworking, feeding and watching the birds and squirrels that frequented her yard. In her younger years she had a boat and enjoyed fishing and waterskiing. During the winter she liked to snowmobile. Willie had wonderful neighbors who were always there to help when she needed it. She always appreciated everything they did for her. One of the many gifts she gave was her big hugs! Willie is survived by her brother, Charles (Carolyn) Barnes; sister, Judy (Ken) Buehler; nieces and nephews; her cousin, Joanne (Albert) Sattison; good friends, Mike & Debye Harris, who were like her own children; faithful friend and nurse, Chris Ernest; along with many other close neighbors, friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Audrey (Humphrey) Barnes; grandparents; sister, Joeva; and brother-in-law, Roger Schlipf. Visitation for Willie will be in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, from 6-8 pm on Thursday, March 18, 2021. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11 AM on Friday, March 19, 2021 with burial to follow in the Allen Township Cemetery, Williston, Ohio.
