Wayne Edward Thurmond was born on October 2, 1967 in Lexington, Mississippi to Mr. Willie Wiley and Lenora Thurmond. He was a toddler when he moved to Toledo, Ohio with his mother in 1969. When Wayne became an adult he was employed at Lott Industries for many years. Wayne loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed visits to the Humane Society. He liked walks through the park near his home where he spent much time watching children play. Known as the “deer whisperer”, his favorite spot was in front of a large picture window watching the deer come into his yard. He attended Camp Courageous where he participated in many activities. He helped with meal preparation at home, and loved food, and eating out. Wayne was an avid bowler, and has won many bowling trophies which he proudly displays in his home. Wayne attended church every Sunday, participated in a monthly Bible study in his home, enjoyed visits from Anna, the comfort dog from Trinity Lutheran Church, and listened to gospel music. Wayne was a long-time attendee of Friendship Baptist Church and just recently started attending The Body of Christ Church where really enjoyed the music. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memories, his brothers; Derrick (Shalonda) Thurmond, J.T. Wiley, Willie Wiley, Jerry Wiley, Michael Wiley, and Lawrence Wiley. His sisters, Margret Wiley, Brenda Wiley, Linda Wiley, Shae Wheat, and Teresa Wiley. His aunts; Dessie Lee Thurmond, Doris Thurmond Davis, Shirley (Jim) Kearney, Barbara Weed, and Josie Walker; his uncles Booker T. (Nellie) Thurmond, and Walter “W.L.” Rimson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
