Wayne W Bacon

August 6, 1938 — March 25, 2017

Wayne W. Bacon, age 78, of Perrysburg, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 25, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 6, 1938 in Toledo to Lester and Velma (Crum) Bacon. Upon graduating from Macomber High School, Wayne served in the Army Reserves for three years. He began working for the United States Postal Service in 1958. After 34 years of faithful service, he retired from the post office and began working for the Toledo Postal Employees Credit Union. He worked at the credit union for 20 years where he continued to serve as a board member until he passed. Wayne was married to his beloved bride, Beverly (Brode) Bacon for 56 years. Out of that union, they brought forth two beautiful daughters. Wayne loved his family above all else. There was nothing he wanted more in life than to provide for and take care of his family. He was no stranger to hard work. He loved his job at the post office and at the credit union as well. When he wasn’t at work, he enjoyed mowing his lawn, fixing things in his garage and working on projects in his woodshop while listening to the Detroit Tigers play baseball on the radio. He was quite the craftsman, and an avid Detroit Tiger’s fan! He also enjoyed traveling abroad with his wife. They vacationed together in many places such as Alaska, Hawaii, Aruba and Europe, as well as, almost every state in the U.S. Wayne valued being involved with his community. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Masonic order as a 32nd degree Mason with the Phoenix Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He was also very active in the Perrysburg Chapter of the Eastern Stars. Wayne is survived by his wife, Beverly (Brode) Bacon and his daughters Tracey (Michael) Jacob and Toni (Joshua) Hartman, along with his seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Bacon, and his sisters, Nancy Swift and Marlene Hensley. Friends and loved ones will be received on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. S. Boundary Street Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-874-3133) where a Lotus Chapter 477 OES service will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on April 5th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
