Wavelene "Wave" E. Mcritchie

Wavelene (Wave) Eleanor McRitchie age 93, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family on Thursday March 17 ^th , 2022. She was born on July 26, 1928 in Canvas, West Virginia to her late parents Howard and Anna Vance. She was the youngest of 9 children. She grew up and graduated high school in Summersville West Virginia.

She married George Ralph McRitchie on August 6 ^th , 1954 in Steuben County Indiana. Together they farmed and opened McRitchie Water Hauling, were she handled the bookkeeping.  She was active in her community serving as Clerk for Bay Township, a member of the Bay Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and as a youth bowling instructor for River Lake Lanes and Harbor Lanes, both located in Port Clinton, Ohio. For several years she sponsored a youth bowling scholarship and had a passion for teaching children, including her two sons. She was employed as a tax preparer with H & R Block for many years. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with her family, summers with her nephew Ted Vance, gardening, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and watching the birds with her beloved cat Boots. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church.

She was proceeded in death by her siblings, husband George and son Ralph Vance McRitchie.

She is survived by her son George Bernard (Brenda Dillard) McRitchie, grandchildren Cortnie (Scott) Glovinsky, George Donald (Shelby StClair) McRitchie, Brandon (Tammy Marinis) McRitchie, Katelyn (Larry McGee) McRitchie, Suzanne (Ryan) Barth, Suzette (Aaron) Wiechman, and Ralph Vance McRitchie Jr, as well as her 12 Great Grandchildren Kayden, Karsyn & Khloe, Maisyn & Willow, Elijah & Eliott, Camerin, Hannah & Landon, Gladys & Iris and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Wavelene will be held from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton.  The funeral service will be held at 11 AM, in the funeral home on Thursday, March 24, 2022.  A private burial will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
